Want a trendy wedding? Try traditional.

The Wedding Guys are proposing that Unveiled Rochester, from noon to 4 p.m. this Sunday at Mayo Civic Center, will be their best event here yet.

"Unveiled is designed to be more than your traditional bridal show," said Matthew Trettel, whose fellow Wedding Guy is Bruce Vassar. "And this Unveiled is going to showcase some really fabulous emerging trends in bridal wear."

Based in the Twin Cities, Trettel and Vassar are celebrating their fifth year of shows between St. Paul, Minneapolis and Rochester. Together they marry efforts with bridal wear specialists, florists, stationers, chefs, photographers, videographers and others dedicated to helping make weddings distinctive and memorable, Trettel said.

"We just got back from the New York Bridal Show, so we are bringing the latest in dresses to Unveiled," Trettel said, adding that he and Vassar met up with Kathy Mestad and her daughter Holly, of Mestad's Bridal and Formal Wear, who will be coordinating the wedding attire component for Unveiled.

"In New York, we met with designers and saw dresses that haven't hit the stores yet. And the really great thing is that there are styles that have not been seen in a very long time — fuller skirts, sleeves, lace. … There will be a really wide variety at Unveiled," Trettel said. This includes skirt length of wedding dresses as well, he said.

For emerging trends in bridesmaid dresses, Trettel said, "We saw muted colors, blushes, green blues." And, again, assorted lengths.

"All of these trends are for the next year and a half," Trettel said. Whether a bride is planning to be married in six or 18 months, there will be attire styles to fit the occasion, he said, noting that all will be available through Mestad's.

Beyond the couture fashion show, Aisle of Style, and a bridal wear gallery where bridesmaid dresses and tuxedos will also be shown, Unveiled will feature a tasting bar, beauty bar and stationery bar among other spots to help with planning and implementing every aspect of a wedding, from understated affair to extravagant celebration.

"The tasting bar will feature mini-menu items from Kahler Events catering," Trettel said. "At the beauty bar, brides can have experts work with them on makeup, everything from lip shine to more."

In addition, there will be a cake emporium and stations where there will be the opportunity to see invitations and specialty stationery items, interior decorating ideas for receptions, venue possibilities, photography choices and much more, Trettel said.
