MANITOWOC - Area folks who have made the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday Tour of Homes a holiday “must-do” will have to wait a bit, as this year’s event has been canceled.
Peggy Pitz, MSO executive director, said: “We are taking a break and will come back next year, hopefully bigger and better and have beautifully decorated homes for people to enjoy. I think what we’re going to try to do in the future is hold the event every other year. We’re starting a new tradition.”

The Holiday Tour of Homes is one of MSO’s bigger fundraisers. The event, a collaborative affair among area florist shops, decorators and homeowners, has been a showcase for people to gather decorating ideas for the holidays.
“The florists work with the local homeowners to help decorate," Pitz said. "They bring in their own ideas, but they are also willing to use ideas that the homeowners themselves have.”
And even though this year’s event has been canceled, Pitz said interested homeowners might want to put getting in touch with her on their current holiday to-do list.
“If there are some people who are willing to showcase their homes next year, please give me a call at (920) 684-3492,” she said. “It would be nice if we could go and take a look at the decorated homes and see if there’s a good flow, if we’d be doing one or two floors, etc. If you could let me know, that would be great.”
Pitz emphasized they are interested in all types of homes, including condos, apartments, big and small homes, modern or classic.
“We try to get a variety,” she said. “The end result is that people who go through enjoy and get ideas that they are able to do themselves.”
Pitz also said the houses could come from all over Manitowoc County, adding "We’ve done Manitowoc, we’ve done Two Rivers, we’ve been out in the county."
