Canned and pickled goods are just a taste of what shoppers could find at the first winter farmers market 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5.

For the first time, Bachman’s will partner with Plymouth to host an indoor winter farmers market starting in November inside the greenhouse at the Plymouth Bachman’s location, 10050 6th Ave. N.

The farmers market will feature fresh, locally grown and locally produced foods, sweet treats, crafts, and gifts from local farmers, bakers and artisans. Examples of items sold by vendors include; canned goods, salsa, pickled vegetables, canned jellies, olive oil, bread, soaps and other specialty handmade items.

The November market is expected to be a preview market, explained Jessie Koch, recreation supervisor for Plymouth, as more vendors sign up for the market.

Feedback from both vendors and shoppers of the Plymouth Farmers Market suggested people wanted to see a winter market and Bachman’s makes for a great venue, Koch explained.

“We look forward to this partnership and see how it grows,” Koch said.

Karen Bachman-Thull, marketing director of Bachman’s, is also looking forward to the partnership and celebrating locally grown foods and locally made products in the warmth of the greenhouse.

“It really builds community as well as the shop-local and farm-to-table mentality,” she said. “The farmers market also brings that added element of Minnesota-made pride.”

Shoppers can also appreciate the perishable locally grown products with mums, poinsettias, and spruce tips, as well as decorating ideas offered.

“The wonderful thing is there is always something beautiful to talk about,” she said.

The first indoor market in Plymouth will be 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, due to the opening of the indoor market in Apple Valley that Saturday to make sure the execution of the first event was as seamless as possible, noted Bachman-Thull. The remaining markets are scheduled 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the second Saturday of January, February and March. There will be no market in December.
