Pins on Pinterest: Get your home holiday-ready with Dollar Store decor

Once again, I’m behind on my Christmas decorating. Before I resort to hiring some elves to lug up the Christmas boxes from the basement, I thought I would find some Christmas decor ideas all possible with supplies from the Dollar Store. Why pull up boxes of old, but favorite, ornaments and holiday decor when I can spend just a little bit of money and make all new decorations.

There are dozens and dozens of inspired, adorable holiday decorating ideas that are all extremely economical. No breaking the bank with these ideas for Christmas wreaths, ornaments, table decor and more. Here are a few of my favorite ideas, for even more be sure to visit our Christmas board on Pinterest.

Wreaths

I’m a huge fan of those colorful wreaths made from ornament balls. While vintage ornaments are particularly stunning in these glittery wreaths, with some Dollar Store supplies, that same effect can be created easily and without raiding your grandma’s Christmas ornament supply. Other wreath ideas include dangling a few choice ornaments from ribbons attached to a festively painted picture frame.

One simple Dollar Store holiday wreath idea is created out of candy canes, plastic or real. Simply take 20 candy canes and arrange in pairs with the hooks facing away from each other. Tie ribbon around each pair. Use a glue gun to glue a large, flat ornament to the center to hold all the candy canes together. Attach a ribbon and hang.

Ornaments

While you can buy cute ornaments at the Dollar Store, it’s much more fun to create customized ornaments by repurposing other good finds. Battery-operated tea lights can be adorably transformed into snowman faces with some simple black beads and scraps of fabric. And you can create your own hanging snow globes out of plastic wine glasses and miniature plastic toys.

A pair of mittens or gloves can be made into cute stuffed hands holding snowballs ready to be tossed. Fill a pair of mittens with a bit of stuffing, attach a ribbon to connect the pair. Adorn with buttons, holly or other embellishments. Then add “snowballs” made from half a styrofoam ball sprayed with texture snow paint.

Table decor

When it comes to holiday table decor, the Dollar Store is an incredible place to find true treasures in the making. Glittered candle holders, seasonal cloches displays, snow globes, cake stands, sparkle-adorned fruit, transformed nutcrackers and even monochromatic Christmas villages. Whether whimsical or elegant, there are dozens of ideas.

No sofa table decor is complete without a mini Christmas tree. You can create a completely unique evergreen out of a batch of plastic spoons and a cone-shaped foam form. To create, begin by painting the foam the desired color for your tree. Then, begin snapping off the handles of about 75-100 plastic spoons. Attach with hot glue beginning at the bottom. Finish with a coat of spray paint and adornments.
