SWEET SUCCESS: 4-H holds first Cupcake Wars

On Dec. 16, eight teams from Nowata and Washington County 4-H competed in the first annual Cupcake Wars. The contest was open to any 4-H member in Nowata or Washington counties and took place at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Dewey.

Cupcake Wars? This fun new 4-H contest was started at the 2017 Oklahoma State Fair and Washington County 4-H decided to add it to their winter actives. Teams of 2-3 researched cupcake decorating ideas and tried to recreate them during the contest. Each team was given 30 minutes to decorate three cupcakes, display them and clean up their work station. Then they present their display to the panel of judges. During their presentation, the judges can ask questions such as nutrition facts, technique or anything they saw during the decorating.
