Save big bucks this Christmas with these decorating ideas

Christmas is just around the corner and as much as we all love Christmas decorations, they are never very kind to our budget. So if you, like many others, are worried about the holiday season leaving a dent in your wallet then you are in luck! Put on your holiday gear and take note, because we have come up with some extra special decorative ideas to make your Christmas as magical and budget friendly as possible.

Creative candy

Christmas equals to lots of candy canes. But who knew these yummy treats could be used for decoration? That’s right; candy canes are a cheap and effective way to showcase your Christmas spirit. You can glue some candy canes to a jar or can to make a DIY vase, or just arrange them in a circle to create a custom candy wreath. The possibilities are endless, and the best part? They’re edible!

Pretty up the pinecones

Pinecones are a beautiful element that’s symbolic of Christmas time. But you know how you can make your pinecones pop even more? By dipping them in gold! Just spray paint some pine cones in gold and silver to create eye-catching decorations.

Ornaments all the way

No Christmas tree is complete without some bedazzled ornaments. This is where you can really get creative and play with many different kinds of materials. Get your kids involved and make this a family activity. A good idea is to take a bowl of pasta and create small flowers with it, you can then paint them any colour you want and put them up as ornaments! You can also decorate clear or plain ornaments, spray paint them, dip them in glitter or write anything you want on them for your very own custom decorations. Or just hang some beautiful pictures of family and friends as lovely ornaments.

Put a bow on it

Bows make everything beautiful, and we really do mean anything. Make an easy and cheap wreath by sticking together many bows. You can even place a bow on your cushions to make them look like a wrapped up gift!

Display your treats

The holiday season is well known for its many sweet treats and these pretty treats deserve to be displayed. Gingerbread houses, iced cookies and candy cane are all good decorative items. You can even add hot chocolate to the list, just take a pretty mason jar and fill it up with your favourite hot chocolate recipe, lots of marshmallows and chocolate-y goodness. Showcase these yummy decorations, and serve them to your guests at the same time!

Up cycle it

Take your up cycling game to a whole other level this Christmas; decorate using old crates, and woollen pieces that you can find for almost no cost in the market. So up cycle old items and give them a brand new life in your Christmas decorations.

Natural elements

There’s nothing like the smell of a fir tree to get you into the Christmas spirit. Add in natural elements such as holly, pinecones, fir and twigs to create earthy decorations that make your place feel and smell like a wonderland.

As you can see, it’s not necessary to splurge a huge amount on decorations when you have tons of creativity. Just do what makes your place feel like home this holiday season but most importantly, have a very merry Christmas!
